Biografia

Tadeusz Szlenkier, tenor graduated from philosophy at the University of Warsaw, and vocal studies at Yale University. In 2005 he won the First Prize at the International Vocal Competition Klassik-Mania in Vienna.

In the years 2010-2017 he was collaborating with Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz in Poland where he sung such parts as: Alfredo in G. Verdi’s La traviata, Rodolfo in G. Puccini’s La bohème, the Prince in A. Dvorak’s Rusalka, Enzo in A. Ponchielli’s La Gioconda, Tamino in W. A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Barinkay in J. Strauss’s Der Zigeunerbaron and Alfred in J. Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. During his career he also performed such significant parts as Gustavo in Un ballo in maschera by G. Verdi, Leicester in Maria Stuarda by G. Donizetti, Jontek in Halka by S. Moniuszko, and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly by G. Puccini. The artist performs also with oratorio repertoire such as Messa da Requiem by G. Verdi, Symphony No. 9 by L. v. Beethoven, and Requiem by W. A. Mozart.

In March 2008, Tadeusz Szlenkier was invited by Mrs. Elżbieta Penderecka to take part in a concert performance of L. Cherubini’s opera Lodoïska during the 12th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw. The recording of this concert was later nominated to the prestigious Fryderyk award. In July 2008, Tadeusz Szlenkier performed as the Shepherd in K. Szymanowski’s King Roger during the Bard Summer Festival in Annandale-On-Hudson NY. He sang there also the tenor solo in the first American stage presentation of K. Szymanowski’s ballet, Harnasie.

In 2010, Tadeusz Szlenkier represented his country by taking part in concerts organized during EXPO World Exhibition in Shanghai. In May 2012 the artist performed the title role in Idomeneo by W. A. Mozart at the Teatro Municipal in Lima in Peru. Since 2012, the artist is regularly invited to sing at the international Music Festival Musica em Trancoso in Brazil. In February 2015 Tadeusz Szlenkier made his debut on the stage of the Polish National Opera singing Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. In November 2015 he came back to this theatre to sing the role of Stefan in The Haunted Manor by S. Moniuszko in a new production, staged by David Pountney, and broadcasted live by TheOperaPlatform.eu. Also in 2015 Tadeusz Szlenkier recorded a new CD album called Parlami d’amore, with most beautiful Italian songs. In 2017 he debuted at the Nederlandse Reisopera as Rodolfo in La bohème.

In the 2017/2018 season Tadeusz Szlenkier debuted in the part of Eros in premiere production of L. Różycki’s opera Eros i Psyche at the Polish National Opera. On the same stage he sang Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. He has also debuted as Don José in G. Bizet’s Carmen at the Wrocław Opera. The 2018/2019 season, Mr. Szlenkier has began as a soloist of the Staatstheater Nürnberg in Germany with the part of Kuragin in S. Prokofiev’s War and Peace, followed by the part of Doctor in Anna Nicole by Mark-Anthony Turnage and Pinkerton. Amongst his engagements this season, is also a come back to the Polish National Opera as Duca di Mantova.

Tadeusz Szlenkier worked with such conductors as: Edward Cumming, Leon Botstein, Giuseppe Grazioli, Jeremy Silver, Antoni Wit, Piotr Wajrak, Uwe Theimer, Eraldo Salmieri, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Maciej Figas, Ruben Silva, Wojciech Rajski, Andrzej Knap, Jose Maria Florencio, Ricardo Castro and Claudio Crus; and such directors as: Lech Majewski, Marc Verzatt, Thor Steingraber, Waldemar Zawodziński, Janusz Józefowicz, Kristine Wuss, Dieter Kaegi, Andrzej Bubień and David Pountney.
